Norma Lee Nicholson Powers

Norma Lee Nicholson Powers, age 82, of Savannah, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Harmony at Savannah after a courageous battle with dementia under the care of Hospice Savannah and surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 26, 1944, in Fort Benning, Georgia to the late Hubert Allie Nicholson and the late Mary James Lindsey Nicholson. Norma grew up in Decherd, Tennessee and graduated from Franklin County High School before graduating from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science degree. She worked as a teacher for many years and predominately taught third grade, and ultimately retired from Rossman School in St. Louis, Missouri. Norma was the life of the party and loved international travel, she loved visiting Cuba and France. She especially loved spending time with family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Ernest Michael "Mike" Powers. 

She is survived by her son, Michael Nicholson Powers and his wife Danni of Savannah; three grandchildren, Taylor Gibson, Evie Powers, and Evan Powers; three great-grandchildren, Grayson, Maverick and Dani Rae; her sister, Nancy Nicholson Forrester and her husband Bill of Huntsville, Alabama; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah.
